Many Thanks to Readers!

There's been some great news for THE FALSE PRINCE this week, and I owe a big thanks to each of you.

First, is that THE FALSE PRINCE has made it into the FINALS for Goodreads' Best of 2012 Middle Grade list. The other books on the list are ones I personally love or ones which I'm dying to read, and I'm sure the same is true for you. But..if you are on Goodreads and feel like voting for FALSE PRINCE, I would be very, very grateful! The link is here:

Second, is that THE FALSE PRINCE has been named to the list of Best Books of 2012 by Publisher's Weekly. It is also on the list for the New York Public LIbrary's 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing, and has made the Lonestar Reading List in Texas. These are all great honors, and I'm very proud to have my book there.

And finally, my thanks to those who share the book with your students, friends, and family. Who choose it for reading clubs, book talk it, blog about it, or leave kind reviews and ratings. And to those who spread word about the book online and in person, there are some notes that I see and a lot that I miss. But I always, always appreciate it.

Again, if you liked THE FALSE PRINCE, please vote for it on Goodreads with the link above. And know that I send you my deepest gratitude!

Congrats, Ms. Nielsen! I was amazed as well, that it made it to the FINALS...that is astounding.

Someday, I hope The False Prince will become a big phenomenon like Harry Potter and have huge movies and all that...it certainly deserves that kind of attention, at least for YA.

Well done.

Jennifer Nielsen Thanks Jocelyn - that is super kind of you!

You deserve it!

Sarah Wow!!! I personally loved your book! It was amazing! I know you probably don't have time for silly questions like this, but I'd like to know... what is your favorite color? And do Imogen and Jaron have kind of a romance going on? Thanks. You don't have to answer. You are amazing. I <3 U!!!!

message 7: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Sarah;

Thanks for the note. I'm so glad you loved the book!

For your questions, my favorite color is green, nearly any shade of it. It was blue when I was a kid, but everyone I knew also loved the color blue, and I didn't want to be like everyone else so I decided to change my favorite. The green has still stuck with me!

And Jaron and Imogen do seem to have a pretty good friendship going on, I agree. But by the end of the book, he's also now bound by treaty to marry Amarinda. So that's a tough fix, right? I sure hope it gets answered in books two or three!

Best wishes,

Jennifer

Hey, can I ask a question too?

Do you refer to him as Sage or Jaron in your head?

Oh, by the way, I really do like that romantic-relationship-dilemma thing. It's very creatively set up, IMO. Political and emotional conflict both going on at the same time. I've never read anything resembling that, and I can't wait until The Runaway King so I can see how it turns out!

message 9: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Thank you Jocelyn! I hope you'll enjoy Runaway King too.

The two names are almost interchangeable in my head. I tend to think his name the way he thinks it within that scene. If I'm thinking of him outside the story, it's usually as Jaron.

Best -

Jennifer

Sarah That is so cool! I like the color red- it can be so many different things... joy, love, anger, and embarrasment. I guess I just like it because it has so many possibilities, you know?
BTW, you came to my school last year. I really enjoyed your visit. I hope someday I can be a writer also.... :D

message 11: by Deyanne (new)

Deyanne Congratulations. I must admit, it was refreshing to read something I could recommend to my grandkids. Ironically, they even lived by you (I think you moved, however). I did vote for it and I shall again. Thanks for a clean read with some integrity.

message 12: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Sarah - Red is a fabulous color. Whatever emotion it's associated with, it's strong and vibrant!

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Deyanne;

Thanks for the compliments and for the votes. I'm so glad you and your grandchildren enjoyed it!

message 14: by Deyanne (new)

Deyanne Keep up the good work, Jennifer. Some of my grandkids live in Layton and they think it is wonderful that you are now famous. By the way, I am quite the severe critic. I've read too much for too long I guess. Your work is refreshing and I encourage you to keep writing.

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Thank you, Deyanne.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Thank you so much for not swearing in your books. You don't know how TIRED I get of seeing a dirty word on a page. In fact, The False Prince is the first book I have read out of about 200 books since summer break that didn't swear. Thank you for that, and please keep having the foul language out of your writing.

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Thank you, Sarah. I feel the same way, and I appreciate your comments.

message 18: by Katie (new)

Katie Hi! I just wanted to say I am a huge fan of the False Prince. You deserve all of this fame (and more!) and you deserve to win the Middle Grade's category. You got my vote! Congrats, and I hope you win!

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Thanks Katie! There are so many wonderful books on that list, I'm happy just to be included, but I do appreciate everyone who voted. Best wishes -

message 20: by Sarah (new)

Sarah What is the release date for the Runaway King? I searched it on Google and got like five answers :-)

message 21: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Nielsen Sarah, The Runaway King will be released on March 1.

Long Live the Prince, Soon Die the King!

Thanks for asking -

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah REALLY? OH MY GOSHNESS THAT IS SO FREAKING SOON! I AM SOOOO EXCITED NOW!
