Mob Justices takes over in Khayelitsha
The state of policing in Khayelitsha a partially informal but huge township in Western Cape outside Cape Town is on the brink of collapse. Within the Police force there are high levels of misconduct, absenteeism, and criminal cases not being adequately investigated. Suspects are often arrested but then released without being charged, Witnesses and complainant statements are often not recorded. As a result recently, ordinary residents, including school children brutally attacked a suspected robber accusing him of robbing two Primary School pupils of cellphones and their money. Residents gave chase and pelted him with stones
