November Contest Info

Hi again! We are officially moving contests to their own separate post. One thing you will notice is that whenever I post, you'll see my name in the "author of the blog post" spot instead of Colleen's.

OCTOBER WINNER

Chelsie S. who would go to Italy.

If I could go anywhere, I would go to Italy! It's SO beautiful there, and I have some relatives that I've never met before there, and so I would try to find them while I was there. I would also go for the amazing art museums that they have there too. But most of all, I would go for their delicious food :)

Tiger's Destiny Book Trailer Update

If you haven't seen it yet, Colleen has chosen her favorites fan book trailers. Now it is up to you to vote for your favorite!

NOVEMBER CONTESTS
Contest 1:  Tiger's Destiny Art Contest

The art contest for each book is one of our most popular and favorite contests! We love seeing everyone's beautiful, creative, and thoughtful interpretations for what Colleen has written. Create art based on Tiger's Destiny and email photos to me at contests@colleenhouck.com. Your art can be in any form (water color, clay, pencil, crayon...) but it has to be your own work.

There will be two (2) winners who will each receive a signed book or an audiobook of Colleen's. We'll also choose a few honorable mentions who will receive a bookmark.

Remember! Your original work. Email photos to contests@colleenhouck.com.

Contest 2: Favorite Authors Contest

The prize for this contest is a prize pack that is book related. Maybe a few books, bookmarks, hot chocolate.... Who knows!

There is one way to win. Leave a comment telling us who your favorite authors are and what they (or their writing) have done for you that you are grateful for!

Kayla My favorite author is Sarah Dessen. I like the way she wirtes her books. I like that she writes about girls that dont have anything and that are having trouble in life. Like everything for them is goin down hill. But at the end of each book something good happens to them. I really appreciate that she writs about girls like that because some girls in the world are like that. They think that everything is bad and theres no hope. But in her books thats not the way it is. Hopfuly the girls that live like that read her books and know that even thought they live like that theres hope. Also i like like that there is a little romance in the books but not really bad stuff. My second favorite author is Allison Van Diepen. I like that her books keep you wanting to read more and you dont want to quite. Also in one of her books "The Vampire Stalker," you have to invision what the characters are like because she doesn't come out and tell you what they are like. I like making up things about certin characters. Sarah and Allison are very awesome writers and have really touched me in different ways!!

message 2: by Billie (new)

Billie Randle One of my favorite authors is Tamora Pierce. She's a great author, and her books show that not every girl wants to live a cushy life, but some girls want to go above and beyond that. It's not just boys who dream of adventure, and of making something of themselves, and her characters show that girls can be independent, think for themselves, and not just do what a man orders them to do.
Another favorite author is Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. It's not Amelia's writing, but she herself that inspires me. It was Amelia's Den of Shadows books, ones that she wrote as a young teenager, that made me think, hey, I could write. Ever since, it's been my dream to become a famous author. I may not be as good as her, but she's taught me that you don't give up just because everyone says you're too young. You just push on until they realize either that age doesn't matter, or that the practice you got as a child makes you an exceptional adult.

message 3: by Kate (new)

Kate Winchester My favorite author is Gail Carson Levine. She is truly a creative writer, always whipping up fresh ideas out of nowhere. I'm always wanting a new fairy -tale, and she has so many new ideas. I'm always satisfied with her work!!! She uses such vivid verbs in the best ways, and I always get sucked into her books, dissappointed when they end.
I also love Bryan Davis. He's a greatbrole model for me. I'm an aspiring author, and his books combine about every subjdct a fiction book can have. He has romance, realistic -fiction, adventure, fantasy, christain, action, mysteries, all sorts of stuff in the two series Dragons In Our Midst and Oracles of Fire. They're the only ome's I ahve read so far, and I was never dissappointed with the outcomes.

message 4: by Miki (new)

Miki On of my Favourite author is Patricia Briggs, she is the first author i met ,living in Belgium meeting a US author is a little miracle, and her books especially Moon Called really helped me. I was lost and afraid and also angry to see my father so ill and i could do nothing... it was so unfair and hard to live. I discovered the first mercy thompson book and it gave me hope, a found a heroine independante, strong but still showing compassion and generous. It Showed me that it's not only the bad persons who win and that you can be strong and still have a heart.

The second one is Suzanne Johnson/Susannah Sandlin, she was one of the first author i dared to ask for reviewing her book and she very kindly accepted even if i was a new bloggers, did not have a lot of members and lived in international. It gave me more confidence and showed me that some author are really mindful of all their followers/readers.
Her books are great and she doesn't stop to improve

message 5: by Christina (new)

Christina My favorite author just has to be Robin Jones Gunn. She is the author of the "Christy Miller" book series, which have impacted my life incredibly. Her books center around a protagonist named Christina (that's my name as well!) and the story follows her as she encounters the mysteries and meaning of life, all while trying to live through high school! Another reason why I love Robin is because she connects with her fans. If you simply email her or message her through Facebook, she always makes time to reply with a heartfelt message. She inspires me to be the best I can be, and because of her, I want to pursue a career in writing! :)

message 9: by Riata (new)

Riata I have a long list of authors that I love, but chief among them is Cassandra Clare. Her sarcastic humor brings light to several usually serious subjects, and she inspires me to be more daring with her brave (sometimes rash) characters, and their determination to have a happy ending. :D
