daring greatly read-along #4
Hi everyone! We were flooded with questions this week - thank you. I was able to get it down to twelve major themes but the podcast is still a little longer than average (34 minutes).
I thought it might be helpful to share an excerpt from The Gifts of Imperfection. This is a story about reaching out and finding empathy after a shame storm. It speaks to the challenge of finding someone who has earned the right to hear our story.
Here are a few additional links:
The 2012 TED talk on shame.
Kristen Neff's online Self-Compassion assessment
I was just introduced to "a show with zefrank" when my friend, Elan, sent me this link to his video on shame. Very powerful.
Put Failure in its Place - a recent Harvard Business Review blog post about shame at work by Whitney Johnson (author of Dare, Dream, Do).
A list of mental Health professionals trained in shame resilience work
Shame & Guilt - the best academic review of the shame and guilt literature
Shame in the Therapy Hour - an edited text of case examples and theories for mental health professionals.
The next podcast is on the vulnerability armory (Chapter 4). The e-mail address to send questions is daringgreatlyquestions(at)gmail(dot)com.
Here is the iTunes link if you want to subscribe to the podcast. It normally takes a couple of hours for the podcast to upload to iTunes so it might be early Monday morning.
