Character Interview: Elodie Parkes & August from “Millie Reinvented”
Welcome Elodie Parkes to the blog today with a character interview with August, from Millie Reinvented!

Mia: What is the name of the book where we’ll find you? Can you tell us a little about it?
August: Hi, I’m August and I feature in ‘Millie Reinvented’
Millie is a young woman who suddenly realizes that her husband has not really been kissing her for a couple of years, when she is kissed by a young man who works in the same firm as she does at their Christmas party. (That’s me, I kiss her, under the mistletoe)
The kiss is so different and enjoyable it jolts her into the realization that she has been kissing her husband but he’s just been taking it and not kissing her back.
It’s not the only thing he’s been taking, and we find out just what kind of man he is.
Millie finds herself assessing her relationship with her husband over the next months as I start to pursue her.
The things Millie finds out about her husband astonish her and me in fact. I fall in love with Millie and that’s what the story is really, a love story. Although there are some funny bits and philosophical parts too, the story is a romance.
Mia: Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you fit into the story? What should we know about you?
August: I’m the same age as Millie, we are just over our mid-twenties. I work in advertising, the creative side. I’m one of those guys who likes to help people out and I do have lots of friends. I’m quite moral actually, even though I do fall for Millie. You must understand she has a lot to put up with and I just want to love her. There are horrible things happening in her marriage and I find out about it. I’m kind hearted, a perfectionist, genuine. Yes I am good looking but I don’t use that.
Mia: What do you think of the author? Be honest. We won’t tell.
August: The author is very insightful. She knew some people might think twice about the fact that Millie falls in love with me when she is married, but hoped that when readers found out the truth about Millie’s marriage they would ‘get’ the story . A couple of reviews have vindicated her theory recently. Elodie is a romantic, she’s kind like me and wants the world to be a more loving place. She met a young woman in her work who inspired ‘Millie Reinvented’ and gave that person an imaginary happy ending.
Mia: How do you feel about the story you’re in?
August: I really like it. I have chance to grow in the story too. The title is special; it’s a play on what I usually do for my friends. I enjoy the fact that Millie helps me as much as I help her by loving her. The story is much more than just an erotic romance, it has so much real life stuff in it I think you would be surprised.
I was a little worried when I discovered it kind of exposed my vulnerability but in the end that’s for the best.
Mia: Do you like being a character in the book?
August: I thought for the longest time I was real but so many people have said I am a character in a book that I guess I must be. It’s strange because the way the story is written seemed to make me real.
Mia: How do you see your future? Without giving anything away about the story, naturally.
August: Millie and I are in love and we will be forever. I’ll look after her and love her, but that’s all I know at the moment.
Mia: What do you know about your author’s plans? Can we expect to see you in any future stories?
August: I seriously doubt it, not that the author doesn’t love me but that the book completes our journey together.
Mia: Let’s say they make a movie about this book. Who do you want to play you, and why?
August: I have not a clue. I’d like the actor to be very close in character to me in his real life. Someone warm, giving, loving.
