ANC Nomination Process

The ANC leadership battle is in full swing to decide whether President Jacob Zuma is retained or removed from office at the elective conference in December 2012. While the ANC top brass are fighting and "fiddling", the country is in uproar and in protest. There have been wildcat strikes in all areas  of the  South African mining industry including , platinum, gold, iron ore  diamond mines and coal.  As many as 75,000 miners, or 15 percent of the industry's workforce in South Africa, are on strike, undermining already shaky growth. Violent clashes during a six-week stoppage at platinum producer Lonmin resulted in the death of 46 people.
