Some Rules To Live By
Here we are just a week before the release of my book, Model Behavior, and I am reminded by the few rules I try to live by.-Naima Mora

In front of a beautiful water fall in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Like everyone, I go through the ups and downs of daily life. It is in these small day-to-day challenges that we truly win in life. Making the bed and washing the dishes is an unpleasant task for me, but when I come home and see my bed made and the dishes washed it makes everything else feel as if it is in order. My house feels welcoming. I can be productive in an orderly, welcoming environment.
Besides my “keep your house clean” rule, I follow several other mantras to help remind me of what is important. Some of them include: “Everything that makes me happy requires great effort.”
“Do something every day that will make you feel more accomplished than the previous day.” “Find something new and interesting to think about every day. Never stop learning and broadening your horizons.” “Do something every day that will make you feel happy.” (Naima Mora: Model Behavior)
In short, these mantras translate to me, “Challenge each day as if it were your last!” Do not be afraid to live. Sign up for those trapeze classes you’ve wanted to take. Set some time apart to visit the local botanical gardens, or the Zoo -stop to smell the roses. Challenge your two-mile morning jog by attempting to do three miles. Follow your dreams. Don’t be afraid to live. If we fall we can pick ourselves back up.
Living fully does not mean being prepared to die at any time. It simply means being cognizant that in the fragility of life, death can be untimely or timely, but it WILL happen. If we live to our fullest we can be assured of having no regrets because we put forth our best effort.
What are your most important rules to live by?
