This week's questions

So far, being alive is probably one of the most complicated things I’ve attempted. In fact, all the other complicated things seem to stem directly from it. Even today, many years after my (alleged) birth, strange and worrying questions keep arising. Here is the list of things I could use some help with this week. If you have any answers for me, just jut them down in the comments below:

- Ever look up and feel that one of the clouds was coming for you?

- I'm not entirely sure that my belly button is in the middle.
What can that mean?

- Just before I look under my bed, I always get a little cold feeling, as if part of me expects to find something staring back at me. I've probably seen too many Hollywood movies to have any hope of ever cultivating a healthy relationship with the underside of my bed.

- I live with the constant fear that I'll suddenly become allergic to air and die.
Other than that, I'm quite an optimistic person.

Snorii When I was young, I used to imagine clouds changing form and becoming brick. (They would be constructed like brick walls with mortar between all of the bricks.) Next was the feeling of what it would be like when they smashed into the ground even if they weren't right overhead.

Graham Parke Well, at least that kept you from noticing that one cloud that secretly follows you around, right? :P

Snorii Oh great, now I will be up all night.

They don't? This is such a relief! I was already saving up for a very expensive/invasive operation (also, I wanted to install a switch so I can chose between an inny and an outy belly button, depending on the situation)

Cecilia In response to your 4 ‘freakouts’:

1) Graham, please don't worry about a cloud coming for you...the ones outside in the sky at least! As long as I've walked this earth I've never seen this happen...except, well, a few years ago I saw a cloud inside heading towards my mom. It was a white cloud type vapor in the middle of my kitchen that moved over towards my mom at the dining table, hovered around & encompassed her...then vanished stage right. She was talking & it looked like she was blowing curls of smoke from her mouth & mom never smoked! She seemed no worse for the experience but blamed it on me after I asked her if she saw it, too! NO KIDDING…she did! TRUE STORY! If you want something to stress about, I got it...mostly dead fish falling from the sky! (ANOTHER TRUE STORY!) A partially eaten & somewhat mostly dead rather large fish (or used to be) almost hit my brother-in-law in his lawn chair while we were out camping a couple of weeks ago...NO KIDDING!!! My advice: don't worry about clouds...outside or inside clouds...worry about mostly dead fish dropping from the sky! It does happen…but only if you’re camping in Oklahoma!

2) In regards to the anxiety you've expressed concerning your belly button not being in the "middle"...well, Graham...in the middle of what? I could just drop my response right here & now...but nope...:) I'm guessing that you're referring to that slight hole-ish type indention looking thing most humans have in the middle-ish of our tummies where we once were connected to our birth mums. Correct? Perhaps you have an "outie", Graham, and don't recognize it for what it is...or perhaps you've a crook in your neck so when you look down to view your belly button (for whatever reason???) it's misplaced or looks skewed to the side or not there at all. Or… perhaps you are not of the human species, Graham. We all will love you anyway...just please don't concern yourself about your belly button...there's plenty more things to get your freak on about than that little thingy...remember the fish story.

3) Now, of all the comments you've made here...I relate to this one the most! Wolves!!! Yep, wolves! I somehow know for a fact that if I look under my bed at night I will see a wolf...and he won't be friendly either...more the "were" (the first 'e' is pronounced as in 'we'!) variety rather than a cute puppy type wolfie!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! My mom spent many a night trying to comfort me as a child after I woke her up with my screaming & crying that a bad wolf (think bad werewolf!) was under my bed! So...how does one tackle the problem of werewolves under the bed? Junk...put lots of stuff & boxes and crap you have no use for but don't want to throw away either under your bed...pack that space full! (I really did this!) Now, I know a werewolf cannot fit under my bed...but what about all those 'were' (first 'e' pronounced as in 'we'!) dust balls?! Vicious little 'weredust-balls' with lots of sharp little teeth!!! I still hate to get up in the night for a bathroom run so gingerly put one foot into my slipper, then the other and...RUN!!!

4) Sorry to have to tell you this, Graham, but it can & does happen!!!!!

Considering all the questions you mentioned in your blog...I'd have to agree that you sound quite optimistic to me, too! I, on the other hand, consider myself a pessimistic realist after experiencing all the wonderful things life has to offer...yeah, I'm being sarcastic (except for being a pessimistic realist!).

Thanks for the paranoid posting, Graham. I now realize there may be hope for me yet...:>

Great to hear!
If my writing helps even one reader one little bit, then I have definitely... failed...

:P

Cecilia Oh geez, Graham...is that a good thing or a bad thing in your opinion...:P

Also...I'm still ecstatically deliriously enjoying the Kindle Fire I won on your blog!!!! Hey...all you Graham Parke fans out there...join Graham's blog! You never know what great things can happen to you...which for Graham could possibly cause the man to feel a failure...but I hope not...:)

Graham Parke :D sane advice in an insane world.

That might well be the smartest thing I've heard all day (and that's saying a lot, as I've been listening to my inner voice rambling on all day now..)
