Why I Write Paranormal Romance

Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm new to this so bear with me :) I've had a few people ask "Why did you choose to write paranormal romance?"When put on the spot, my answer is usually "because I wanted to." After thinking on it for a while I decided to compile a list of reasons that explain it much better than that. So, Here Goes!
1. Writing paranormal romance gives me so much freedom with the story and characters. The only limits are in my mind. ANYTHING can happen and I like being able to throw myself that far into the story.
2. Paranormal characters can behave in ways that humans can't. If a vampire is wreaking havoc and killing people it's just part of the story. Later, the reader may go from hating him to loving him. It's much harder to accomplish this with human characters because there is not a justifiable reason for them to behave so badly.
3. It's hard to believe in love at first sight. With a paranormal story, it doesn't seem as far fetched.  A relationship can progress at any speed that I want and still be believable.
4. The unknown is appealing to me. In a paranormal story, I have the freedom to write something that is completely made up.
5. I can give my characters extra qualities. A normal person isn't going to have lightening speed or superhuman strength but paranormal characters can be whoever and whatever I want them to be.
6. I feel that I can pack more action into my stories. Any story can have action but paranormal stories can have action at every turn, simply because ANYTHING can happen.
Please know that I am not "downing" other genres. This is my personal opinion and nothing more. I read tons of other genres and enjoy them immensely.  Eventually, I would like to write a story that isn't paranormal but I write the stories as they come to me and so far they are all paranormal. What can I say? I like it. :)
