I discovered something about myself this past summer. I’m a creature of habit. Routine. And when that is all thrown off, I don’t function well … almost not at all. I wasn’t myself and you all heard me complaining about the driver’s ed class my daughter had to be at by 7 AM; and how I barely got any work done the second half of the summer. Yesterday she went back to school … and everything in my life clicked back into place. Honestly it was like a loud CLICK sounded and everything wrong became right again. I woke up and she got ready, I fed the dogs, gave her breakfast, sat with her till she went out for the bus. I went downstairs on the treadmill, came up, showered and sat down in my office at 9 AM ready to write and sprint with people on Twitter. I wrote for an hour and a half solid, and really accomplished something. Today I took an exercise day off, but I did write (discovered that it’s harder to lengthen a story than I thought it would be), and then went on to do errands and things. Tomorrow I’m back to the exercise and write routine. As you can tell, this makes me very happy. Very very happy!
How about you? Are you a creature of habit? Do you thrive on routine? Or prefer change and surprises?
