Running Late for a Good Reason

I’m a pretty punctual guy. I hate being late. That’s the type-A in me. Living with three women, I have learned to announce a “need-to-leave” time thirty minutes earlier than the real “need-to-[image error]leave” time. So, if we need to leave by 2pm, I announce that we need to leave by 1:30. We’ll inevitably run late and pile in the car at 1:50 (which is late in my ladies’ eyes) but really we run a bit early.

Here’s the thing, though. September fifth is “Be Late for Something” Day. When I first heard this, I’m thinking that there’s no one I’m participating in this observance. I’m too anal-retentive, gotta be there on time. Then, I looked at it through the eyes of romance and relationships. The day is all about being late for something and it doesn’t stipulate why. So, why not be late for a party or meeting? The reason: a little hanky-panky with the spouse.

Spending time with your partner intimately when you know you should be somewhere else can be a bit of a thrill. It also shows your partner that he/she is important enough for you to run a little late for them. So, give it a go. Spend a few extra intimate moment with your partner, then take off in a sprint realizing you will be late…for a good reason.
