Get Away!

Last month my friends brought their kids and came to stay in our hometown for two weeks. Instead of staying with us or renting a hotel room, they stayed in a beautiful vacation home [image error]rental, two bedroom, front and back yards, gorgeous for just $150 a night. One bedroom hotel rooms in town run over $200 off season! I was jealous only because I wanted that home to be available in a town I would visit.

Then I found AirBnB.com. I absolutely LOVE this site, although I have to admit that I have not used it yet. The idea is that if you are planning on visiting a city and want to find a home to stay in, type in one of the nearly 28,000 cities in 192 countries, and browse photos, descriptions, prices and guest reviews. When you find your accomodations, punch in when you want to stay (a day, a week a month), and voila, it’s home away from home.

I love this because it makes romantic getaways even more romantic. After a stroll in a European city would you rather walk through a hotel lobby and call the front desk for more towels or walk into your “home”, turn on the stereo, cook in your kitchen and retire in your bed after you watch the sunset from your patio?

The next time I want to wisk my wife away for a couple of nights, I will certainly be checking out what’s available using AirBnB.com. Accomodations look great. It’s easy to use and it’ll save me some dough…now that’s romantic!
