Zoe.

There is a cat named Zoe who lives with us. It's like living with a fluffy bundle of love. Fourteen years ago, she was a barn kitten in a place my daughter used to ride. The farmer went down to the barn, threw a towel over the kittens, caught her, brought her to us and we went home with her. She was a barn cat, although there was definitely some Siamese in there somewhere.
She spent the first few years of her life loving us and avoiding strangers. A few years ago she went away...

Jessica Williams I'm very sorry to hear about Zoe... just keep petting her, that will help both of you in so many ways.
I wish I were able to offer something helpful...

Kurt Terrible news. So sorry for you and your family.

Jill The same thing happened with my little Xenon. I was devastated. I'm so, so sorry. She's a beautiful girl, inside and out.

Kellee Moye Your blog made me tear up. I am so sorry to hear about Zoe. My cat Lolly had a tumor that eventually was her demise- thankfully it seemed to be a painless death. Cat love to your family!

Karla Keffer So, so sorry. Poor little girl. Curl up with her. Sing her favorite songs about mousies. Big furry cat hugs to all of you.

Krys That's terrible. I had two different incidents with regards to cats this year. You have my sympaties, plus she kinda looks like my cat.

Agnieszka T. I'm soooo sorry to hear that! She looks so lovely + my cat is far from me for a few months and I miss him badly :(

Wendy White What a beautiful face she has. She looks very cuddly. I'm so sorry to hear she is very poorly. From your stories she clearly knows she is loved. She is fortunately to have such a wonderful family.

Kathleen I'm so sorry to hear about Zoe's illness - she sounds like an absolutely lovely creature. I will pet my sweet kitty boy Riley and think good thoughts for her comfort and yours.

Michelle I'm very sorry to hear about Zoe, Neil. It sounds as if she's led a marvelous life with you, your family, and friends. I wish her a peaceful passing and you much love and peace as well.

As for the NYT article, and ensuing hubbub, well, I'm surprised. I quite liked the article and everything you said in it. In context, I took the comment to mean that you wrote what you loved and communicated directly with your readers rather than pander to reviewers, lists, and other ambiguous yardsticks of success. I don't know if it means anything, but I found the message inspirational...
*hugs*

Carrie Poor kitty. She looks like such a sweetheart. I had to put one of mine down last year when he got a heart blockage and became paralyzed. We weren't going to replace him, but one of our other cats refused to eat until we got him a friend. Our lives are so much better with pets!

You made me cry!
I don't like it when animals are in pain.
I hope her suffering ends soon.
