Out and About

I'm currently in the wilds of Costa Rica. When I get back in a week or so, I'll post pics at my website, but for now, let me just say that if you're looking for a Vacation Adventure, this might be a very good choice--depending on the kind of vacation you're looking for.

Me, I'm all about the mud-under-the-fingernails-physical-challenge-adventure vacation, and this is what we're doing. Ziplining over cloud forests, trudging through the viper-laden, jaguar-stalked national forest, and pulling over to the side of the dirt roads to take pictures of the monkeys swinging from tree to tree. I'm wearing the first set of dry shoes and socks in 3 days and loving it.

People are awesomely friendly, especially if you make an effort to speak Spanish, however badly (although many people speak English). I'm pleased to find that my miserable schoolgirl Spanish is actually adequate to most tasks.

More later--for now, I'm going to get myself another cup of this excellent coffee.
