BE WARY OF CHEAP FLIGHT

The RM59 cheap flight advertisement to through the mail to the writer

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry should investigate the AirAsia cheap flight advertisement whether it is in compliance with Part II of the Prohibition of False Trade Description, Trade Description Bill 2011, that the price offered is accordance with what is advertised. To check, please go to: http://www.parlimen.gov.my/files/bill... Malaysian Consumers Association should also act fast in reminding the people not to be trapped by this cheap offer, which later turns out to be expensive.
This advertisement is actually intended to trap. The offer is actually limited. They will close sales after their have made profit through the cheap sale, which is actually expensive with several other hidden charges which consumers are not aware of.
Recently, through an email received on July 10, an advertisement “Balik kampung? Terbang sahaja! All-In-Fare from RM59” bookings can be made from now until July 15 for flights from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Phnom Penh, Bandung and Shenzhen, the flight is from July 16 to Oct 31 2012.
After reading the advertisement, I tried to purchase a ticket with the RM59 price that was offered for all the destinations, but all were futile.
Likewise, in my previous attempts for a similar advertisement which offered tickets priced at RM9.90 and RM19.90, as well as many more promotions made, especially through the mainstream newspapers to get the public’s attention.
The offer was available, but only for a few seats, while the price for other seats doubled the original price or higher, sometimes almost the same price as the premium ticket fares.Apart from that, we should also be careful when purchasing tickets online, especially when filing the online forms, when suddenly the system went “hang”.
For example, like for purchase of insurance. If the option is left out, the system becomes “hang” and you cannot go to the following page.
Also, when making the payment, there will be other charges which are not stated earlier, like insurance, convenience fee, and also for seat number and baggage, which finally ends up almost the same as the premium flight ticket.
Therefore, we have to be more cautious and not to be easily lured by advertisements.
