In the cockpit, Robert looked through the different scans the computer showed. Something was really off about this. Normally, he’d think it was a saboteur, but who could that be?

Shamblers lacked the cognitive intelligence to do something that complex. Most failed to comprehend how to open a door.

Still, the readouts didn’t make any sense.

“Computer,” he said, “Are our internal scanners working?”

“At peak efficiency, Captain,” came the AI voice. “Aside from the video not recording, everything appears to be normal.”

Appears, huh? Then why the double alert? he wondered.

Too many questions too quickly for his liking.
