A Story A Day Challenge 2025 – A Leap Backwards Part 24

Robert tried to shake the feeling something was wrong, but he couldn’t. “Computer, activate visual logs of the stasis pods.”

The delay lasted a few seconds, but was longer than the AI normally took to respond. When it did, it’s words chilled Robert. “It appears the visual logs are gone, Captain.”

“Erased?”

“Negative. They never recorded.”

“Computer,” Robert barked, his hands flying across the controls as he tried to reactivate the cameras. “Summon Captain Ludlow. Now!”

“Yes, Captain.”

After a moment, Richard’s voice came over the comms. “What is it, Robert?”

Robert got the cameras activated and everything appeared normal.
