So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then you will understand that I am he. I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me. John 8:28 NLT

As a pastor, the most important job I have is to be the architect of the culture of the house. To make sure the way we do things and relate to each other looks more like Heaven than hell.

We make a big deal out of serving the poor, even if they will never come to our church. We make a big deal out of healing, hearing the voice of God, and prophetic things. Relationships and kindness are also big deals to us here at OpenDoor.

You see, if our culture is toxic, it doesn’t matter how much I know about the Bible, how good a preacher I am, or that I give a salvation call every Sunday.

I don’t believe God moves through a church service. I think God moves through the relationships of the people within the church service. We can’t give the atmosphere to the enemy; he desperately wants it!

Satan is called the “prince of the power of the air” for a reason. He wants to control the atmosphere and fill it with anger, discord, disobedience, and lies so he can raise up a mob to crush you. Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Time to Build with Him

Grounded in FaithDeclare!

Jesus said, “My peace I leave with you,” and I believe Him. He has given me access to His “peace that passes all understanding.” Every time I pray with thanksgiving, I get peace. I am diligent to contend for my faith and the joy of my salvation. It is the only way I want to live, so I focus on things above and let go of things below.
