The Lazy Susan’s ai did as instructed and the ship’s hatch opened when Robert and Richard were mere feet away.

Richard was focused on his suit’s scanners, his HUD displaying fragments of movement now. They weren’t being chased. Or so it seemed.

The way the Shamblers appeared out of nowhere on his proximity scanners made him wary even as they entered the ship and the door slid shut behind them.

He knew it wasn’t possible, but he half expected some to be on the ship already. Still…

“Computer, has there been any entry attempts?”

Robert gave him a shocked look.
