Denzel Washington Calls out Cowboys' Jerry Jones: ‘He’s Thinking About His Pockets’

Actor Denzel Washington has publicly expressed his fandom of the Dallas Cowboys on several occasions. This includes appearances at the team’s training camp back when the Cowboys were led by Tony Romo, Ezekiel Elliott and Dez Bryant.

However, training camp visits aside, while Washington may be one of the biggest names in Hollywood, when it comes to being a fan, he’s feeling very similar to many others watching the Cowboys from the outside looking in.

Washington joined ESPN's First Take on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and the longtime Cowboys fan in him came out full force while speaking about owner Jerry Jones.

After stating, "I don't like what Dallas is doing," he proceeded to call out Jones for not thinking about the fans, but instead thinking about his pockets.

"I know they're making a lot of money, and I’m happy for the owner, but the fans ain’t happy," Washington said.

"[Jerry Jones] is making it hard for me ... not to be a fan, because I’m still a Cowboy fan," he continued. "I’m still gonna have the star on the side of the hat. But he ain’t thinking about us, he’s thinking about his pockets."

Shortly after the initial comments, Washington followed that up by sending a blunt message to Jones.

"I love the Cowboys, I love the Cowboys. Because I really love them, this is why I feel the way I feel ... All money ain't good money, Jerry."

Cowboys Fans Pushed to the Limit With Frustration After Micah Parsons' Trade Request

Washington's comments directed at Jones come roughly two weeks after star pass-rusher Micah Parsons requested a trade due to frustrations and poor communication amid contract negotiations on a new deal.

Parsons' future in limbo has sent a frustrated fanbase to the breaking point of frustration after dealing with the constant drama that Jones has brought in recent years.

The front office-inflicted drama surrounding Parsons' contract negotiations isn't new, either. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb dealt with talks regarding his own deal push throughout training camp and nearly into the season.

Along with Lamb last offseason, quarterback Dak Prescott's contract extension talks weren't finalized until hours before the Cowboys' Week 1 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Jones and the team's front office opting to wait that long was head-scratching, but the same can be said about how this offseason has transpired.
