Droogie Otis, the duo of legendary musician and producer Madlib and acclaimed rapper Your Old Droog, has dropped a new track. “The Edge” ft. Killer Mike is a sparring match between two elite lyricists on a beat by one of the greatest producers ever, laced with razor-sharp wordplay, buoyed by a jazz-infused beat, and featuring a Droog guitar solo. This song holds personal significance as it was among the first beats Madlib sent to any artist after the destruction and loss he experienced in the 2025 LA wildfires, marking a moment of creative resurgence. Droog’s verse was added in just 20 minutes, delivering confident bars that reflect both hard-earned victories and battles overcome. Droogie says of the collaboration, “The Edge is one of those songs I dreamed of making. It feels elevated. It feels like a suit-and-tie affair. It feels like an award show. It’s great to share that figurative stage with Killer Mike.” This is the third release from Droogie Otis’ forthcoming project, arriving in October, following “Everything Designer” ft.
