State of the TAM - 6th August

What’s Up

Me! Up in the air, that is. On Friday I’ll be off to Indie Pride in Manchester and I CAN’T wait. It’s my first year and I’m wild excited! There will be good craic, good food, and great books…what’s not to love?

If you’re planning to go to Indie Pride, do come by and say hi! I’ve got loads of swag to give away and a bunch of really cool books with very pretty covers that I WILL accept compliments on!

I’ll be at Table 10.

I am making a concerted effort to be ‘more better’ at social media this month, mostly by trying to do the August Growth Challenge by booktok strategist Bri. So enjoy me rambling on about why I write in the genres that I write in, with a brief cameo by the writing staffies but NO cameos by laundry which I had forgotten was in the corner of the room :D

@tamoorewrites🫆🫀🧛📝 Hi, I’m TA Moore. I wrote Bone to Pick, Wanted - Bad Boyfriend, the Wolf Winter series and more. I’m doing the August Growth Month challenge and Day 6 is why you write the genre you write and… I write a lot! I write MM romance, but under that umbrella I have romantic suspense, urban fantasy, contemporary romance, and paranormal romance. So this took a while! It doesn’t help that I ramble and the dogs dropped by to say hello. …to boil down nearly 10mins of chat, some characters, some stories, need to be explored through different lens. I probably have the most fun with urban fantasy and romantic suspense, where I can throw a dead body in as a roadblock to romantic progression at useful moment. It’s harder in contemporary romance, where the obstacles to a happy ever after are much more mundane and, sometimes, harder to overcome. At the same time, some of the best moments I’ve written (I think) have been in books where all they had to reach their happy endings were the same tools we all have. No magic. No heroism. Just people being people. Yet at the same time I love writing urban fantasy and romantic suspense, because you have characters who have no reason to have faith in each other. No reason to have faith that there is love or kindness in the universe. Yet faced with the thought of NOT having it, they have to find it themselves to be kind, to be vulnerable, to open themselves to being hurt when they don’t have to. Also someone told me once I should focus on one genre, and I don’t like being told what to do. So…there’s that! 🫆🫀🧛📝 @Bri | BookTok Strategy ✨🖋️ #mmromance #augustgrowthchallenge #romance #writing #tamoore #genre[image error]Tiktok failed to load.

Bonus Writer Problems!

@tamoorewritesFeral writer problems! 📝👩‍💻🏐 My editor was teasing me about a typo, so I obviously insisted I had done it on purpose. That means I either need to back down orrrr…find an in universe why my MC only has one ball. … I am going with he lost in a war. Ok, now I have to write in a war, BUT at least I don’t have to admit I was wrong. This is normal right? It isn’t just me? ☄️📝👩‍💻 @Bri | BookTok Strategy ✨🖋️ #writerproblems #relatable #augustgrowthmonth [image error]Tiktok failed to load.

All You Need is Alien Love (Tentacular Tales #4) by Chloe Archer is out now!

An alien invasion and a mysterious Sanctioning Ceremony—what could possibly go wrong?

RIVER

Now that I’m Earth-married to my sexy alien boo, everything should be sunshine and rainbows.

If only.

Instead, the Alliance is preparing for a hostile alien invasion any day now.

Am I stressed about that? Yes.

Am I more stressed about the Iyaran Sanctioning Ceremony that will make my marriage to Kai official on an intergalactic level?

You bet your sweet ass I am!

Kai and I just need to survive all of this so we can go on our super epic honeymoon. I’m not letting anyone or anything mess with that!

KAI

I dream of the day when River and I can finally settle into peaceful wedded bliss.

But nothing in our lives is ever quite that easy.

We need to stop this invasion and find the answers to critical questions. Like what exactly were those medical experiments that were secretly done to me…?

And River and I need to endure the three days of matrimonial hazing—ahem, I mean, traditional rituals of the Iyaran Sanctioning Ceremony.

I should be worried, but I know with River at my side we can face anything the universe throws at us.

All You Need is Alien Love is the fourth book in the Tentacular Tales series and should be read in chronological order. Get ready for: tentacles galore (even some unexpected ones), underwater shenanigans, embarrassing alien rituals, Groxil slime (it makes a useful comeback), Lord Vardox and Captain Starblade (they might just be moving to the next level), surprises (they come in threes), and more Star Trek references than you can shake a phaser at!

Enable 3rd party cookies or use another browser @amysheppardfoodSausage & Bacon Hotpot If I had to pick the dinner I've enjoyed the most over the last few weeks, this one would be right up there! Herby Sausages and smokey bacon in a garlicky tomato sauce, topped with cheesey sliced potatoes.... It's a proper hearty, great big cuddle of a dinner. It's the sort of dinner you need on stormy days and sad days and 'just in need of a bit of comfort' days. This is my kind of Winter food. Don't be put off by the long(ish) list of ingredients. I reckon that you've probably got at least half of this stuff already I have written up the recipe for this below - I would love to know what you think of this one, A x Feeds 4 500g maris piper potatoes Oil for frying 8 lincolnshire sausages 200g smoked bacon lardons 1 red onion finely sliced 100g spring greens tough stems removed and finely sliced 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped 2 tbsp plain flour 1 tbsp tomato puree 500ml chicken stock 400g tin baby tomatoes 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary 20g melted butter 80g grated cheddar cheese Peel the potatoes before slicing them widthways as thinly as you can get them. Place them in a bowl of cold water to soak. Change the water a couple of times to get rid of the starch. Heat a good drizzle of oil in a large, deep non-stick pan that can go on the hob and in the oven (don't worry if you don't have one, you can transfer the filling to an ovenproof dish to finish.) Slice the sausage skins and discard them. Tear each sausage into 3 equal pieces and add to the pan with the bacon lardons. Fry for 5-7 minutes on a medium heat, turning over regularly until the sausage is browned (it won't be cooked through at this stage) and the bacon is starting to crisp. Remove from the pan and set aside. Add a little more oil if needed, before adding the onion and the spring greens to the pan. Fry for 5 minutes, stirring regularly until soft. Add the garlic to the pan for the final minute. Stir in the flour and tomato puree and fry for 1 minute. Add half the stock and stir continuously until it thickens and comes to the boil. Repeat with the rest of the stock. Stir in the tinned tomatoes and gently pop them with the back of a spoon. Stir in the rosemary, season with salt and pepper and return the sausage and bacon to the pan. Gently bring to the boil. drain and dry the potatoes Give it a final stir, before carefully laying the sliced potatoes on top, each one slightly overlapping the next. Brush with melted butter and bake in the oven for around 40 minutes or until the potato is cooked. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with grated cheese and grill for around 5 minutes until you have a golden crispy top! #recipes #onepanmeals #comfortfood #dinnerideas #dinnertonight #budget #sausages #moneysaving #delicious #sotasty #Christmas #christmasfood #familydinner #bacon [image error]Tiktok failed to load.

Ending on an important note.

I love this hoor. They’re kind, happy, have great eyelashes, and a voice like buttered rum. Yet there’s people who’d hate them for no good reason at all. Fuck those people. Ross is the sorta hoor* you want in your corner…if for no other reason than they smell good.

(It’s a thing. They started it! :D)

@cabaret_rossAs Céline Dion said: Baby, this is serious. Share this with your mates and cultivate the kind of power that only comes from women who enjoy a few gins and a bit of craic. ##belfasttiktok #irishtiktok #scottishtiktok #womenoftiktok #womenempowerment #ginoclock [image error]Tiktok failed to load.
