All My Power
© 2009 John C. Stipa
I see you lying on a shelf,
A shadow of your former self.
Since I was young, you kept me warm,
And protected me from life’s storm.
My home, my joy, a perfect child nurturer,
My knight, my rock, my soul’s provider.
But now, a dark demon sinks his teeth into your skin,
Rotting you from within.
It crushes me your pain,
My psyche forever under the stain.
Your scars they cut me deep,
Into my soul I take them, and I weep.
If the Almighty One cares at all,
He would take you before you fall.
To you I convey all my body, all my love, and all my power,
So that you may return to the Father.
And even though it leaves me alone,
Peace flows to my heart, that at last you are home.
