Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War - Part One
Just finished watching "Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War - Part One" released by VIZ Media.
Now this is NOT a good entry point into the series because it is the final story arc. The original anime of "Bleach" debuted back in 2004 and ran for 366 episodes. It's based on the manga of the same name; and "Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War" is the final story arc of the long-running manga.
"Bleach" follows the adventures of the teenaged Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper—a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper—from a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki. His newfound powers allow him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits Hollows and guiding departed good souls to the afterlife. "Bleach" does have a rather complicated story line, like all good manga, and has a lot of religious aspects to the plot and overall concept of the series.
"Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War" opens when two new Soul Reapers along with a new enemy appear in Ichigo's hometown of Karakura.
Ichigo jumps back into the battlefield with his Zanpakuto to help those in need. Meanwhile, the Soul Society is observing a sudden surge in the number of Hollows being destroyed in the World of the Living. They also receive separate reports of residents in the Rukon District having gone missing. Finally, the Seireitei, home of the Soul Reapers, come under attack by a group calling themselves the Wandenreich. Led by Yhwach, the father of all Quincies, the Wandenreich declare war against the Soul Reapers with the following message: “Five days from now, the Soul Society will be annihilated by the Wandenreich." The history and truth kept hidden by the Soul Reapers for a thousand long years are finally brought to light. Also Ichigo finally learns the truth about who his mother was and how he was able to become a Soul Reaper.
