Hi Everyone,

Dreams are a funny thing! Sometimes they lead me back to characters whose story continues. That’s how Vampire in the Basement was born.

I’ve been to Maine several times and am awed by its gorgeous oceanside and forests every time. I haven’t climbed their mountains yet.

Mythology tells us that the wilderness is home to many paranormal and supernatural beings. Since dictionaries were vague on definitions. I came up with my own definition for my books:

A supernatural being is a human who has a supernatural gift. Examples: shapeshifters, witches, seers, werewolves, etc.
A paranormal being is not human. Examples: elves, trolls, vampires, ghosts, mermaids, elves, leprechauns, etc.

In the state of New York, there is the Supernatural Council, which includes supernatural beings as well as paranormal folk. Their purpose is to blend in with humanity and lead ordinary human-style lives. Everyone just wants to be happy. Collectively, both groups are sometimes referred to as supernaturals or Nats.

I am often asked about the Arnhem Knights. Vampire King Max Vander Meer started the organization long ago in various places. The ones that I tend to focus on are the Arnhem Knights of New York. They take an oath to protect humans from vampire death and to assist supernaturals in trouble.

A note about Shapeshifters: I’ve studied the Saga of the Volsungs. It is an Old Norse legend about a family who shapeshifters, but not all to the same animal. When it comes to shapeshifting, I use them as my reference for my books.

Let’s go back to Maine and weddings. I laughed when I woke from the dream of Regina and Gregor’s wedding. This sequel continues the story of the supernatural first responders who met and fell in love in When Love Survives. (You might want to read When Love Survives first.)

After I wrote the tale, I realized it was my homage to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. The forest is mystical. Unlike Shakespeare, we don’t have any humans without gifts in our story.

Regina and Gregor

Everything about Lorraine is broken. She shapeshifts and forgets her clothes. She’s divorced and doesn’t believe in love anymore. Tall, blond, and handsome, Theo, vampire and Arnhem Knight, desires Lorraine, but is it more than lust? Would he give up the Arnhem Knights for her?
