'Masters of the Universe' Star Gives a Huge Update, Complete With First He-Man Photo

Following in the footsteps of the legendary Dolph Lundgren, Nicholas Galitzine will wield the power of Grayskull as the first cinematic version of He-Man of the 21st century. The 2026 version of Masters of the Universe is shrouded in mystery, though, as of Father's Day, 2025, Galitzine himself has dropped a massive update.

"Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe," Galitzine wrote in the caption to an Instagram post on June 15. "It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime, and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work."

That caption accompanied an incredible photo of Galitzine as He-Man, the first full photo of him as the character that's been officially revealed.

Although He-Man and the Masters of the Universe became a popular toy line and animated series in 1984, there has not been a live-action version of the fantasy hero since the 1987 film, starring Lundgren. The new version of the movie has a very big cast, including Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, and Jared Leto as He-Man's arch nemesis, Skeletor.

The film is directed by Travis Knight, with a script from Chris Butler. It is produced by Mattel, the same toy company that created the original toys, and was responsible for 2023's smash hit film, Barbie

Will Masters of the Universe be the Barbie of 2026? Who knows. For now, it's clear that Galitzine has the power.
