Top 'Snake Eyes' Actor Is Ready To Join James Bond Franchise, But Not the Way You Think

In the 2021 film Snake Eyes, Henry Golding proved he knew his way around some deadly swords. But what about a Walther PPK? Could Golding, who also starred in 2024's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which featured Bond creator Ian Fleming as a character, become the next James Bond?

Although Golding recently said "sign me up" to the Radio Times, he also emphasized that he didn't only want to join the Bond franchise as James Bond himself. Golding, who is British but of Malaysian descent, noted that although becoming the first Asian James Bond would be cool, he didn't think there should be "pressure to change the ethnicity" of James Bond. He also noted: "I think sometimes it is good to pay justice to the source material, and how Ian Fleming saw this idea of Bond."

Golding, who is currently starring with Nicole Kidman in Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers, will also return, alongside Charlize Theron, for the Netflix action flick The Old Guard 2, later this year. He's a great action guy and a fun, charming actor, too. And so, Golding says that if he didn't become Bond, he would also be interested in playing another character in the franchise, perhaps another version of 008.

"There's plenty more characters in that universe to play and explore," he said. "Obviously, it's a privilege to be in any conversation for a property like that. Whatever happens, I'm excited as a big fan of that series to see how they kind of expand it."

Currently, the new James Bond producers, Amy Pascal and David Heyman, are prepping the next James Bond film in London. This will be the first new 007 movie produced by Amazon MGM, and the first to feature a new James Bond actor since Daniel Craig debuted as 007 in Casino Royale in 2006. Despite several names being mentioned to play Bond, including Golding, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and others, no actor has yet been named.

Some rumors suggest the movie could start filming this year and release as early as 2027.
