However, following them both to the Avengers (available today on DVD!) Thor was certainly starting to come into his own while Loki was still overwhelmingly evil awesome. It makes me much more excited for Thor 2.
And I have yet to meet anyone who thought the romance aspect was well done in that movie. Such a shame, because who doesn't want to see Thor getting his groove on ;)

Back to Loki v. Thor though, I think a big reason why Thor's arc fell flat in the movie was because his transformation didn't have a reason. Loki says it's the girl, but since that romance was DOA (I wonder if they break up in Thor 2?), and the scene where he makes friends with the other scientist got cut, we aren't sure what the heck happened. Not to mention it's hard to sympathize with the Jotuns. It's only because of Hemsworth's acting that Thor is as likable as he is.
Loki's arc though, is beautiful. In fact, when I saw him in The Avengers I felt so bad for him. He actually had my sympathy because I knew he could do better than what he was doing.
I'm sorry for going off on that. I just really love those two.
And yeah, I loved their interactions in The Avengers. Very nice.
Talking of which, tonight I confirm if that really is a tear on Loki's face after he stabs Thor (I think it is). Thank you for letting me know it's out. :D
I personally prefer Hiddleston over Hemsworth, but I liked them both in this film (and The Avengers). Though Thor has a good heart, Loki's intelligence/evil cunning does me in every time.
Have you seen the video where "Ulle" interviews Hiddleston and Hemsworth? It's on YouTube and I thought it was cute.
(And yes, most implausible case of Instaluv in a movie. Ever.)
