Spirit Airlines Launches Service in Savannah With Nonstop Flights to Four Cities
Spirit Airlines will be taking on routes to Savannah Hilton International Airport this summer.
On Tuesday, April 8, the airline revealed that it will begin daily and nonstop services between Savannah and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Nashville International Airport, on October 9. On October 10, it will begin to run flights between Savannah and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.
In a statement to WTOC, John Kirby, the Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said, “We look forward to welcoming our Savannah Guests onboard soon and offering them new, elevated travel options with unmatched value to visit exciting destinations across the East Coast and Midwest."

Kirby continued, "Savannah is an incredible destination, and we know our Guests will love exploring this coastal gem while immersing themselves in the city’s historic charm and vibrant art scene.”
The outlet added that Savannah will become Spirit Airlines’ second market in Georgia, with the carrier having first launched service at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in 2006.
News of this new service comes shortly after CEO Ted Christie announced he would be stepping down. The leadership change was effective beginning Monday, April 7.
In the interim, according to PR Newswire, "an Office of the President consisting of Fred Cromer, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; John Bendoraitis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; and Thomas Canfield, Senior Vice President and General Counsel has been formed to lead the Company until the new CEO is appointed."
In a statement, Robert Milton, the Chairman of Spirit Airlines, said of Christie, "He has seen a lot and done a lot during his tenure here, including navigating the Company through the COVID crisis and multiple strategic junctures, as well as most recently, a corporate restructuring."
