Ben Lamm Net Worth: How Wealthy Is the Dire Wolf Entrepreneur?

Ben Lamm is the de-extinction entrepreneur who says he has brought back the dire wolf, a species that died out more than 10,000 years ago.

On Joe Rogan's podcast to explain the process, Lamm frequently mentioned giving out research for free, funding university programs, going on archaeological digs to look for ancestral DNA, and more. But how does he afford all of this? What is Ben Lamm's net worth?

According to Forbes, Lamm's net worth is $3.7 billion. This derives in part from his company Colossal Biosciences.

Forbes noted that Lamm "cofounded Colossal with Harvard geneticist George Church in 2021 to try and bring back the woolly mammoth." That project is still underway, Lamm told Rogan.

His wealth also derives from five other companies he founded or co-founded, according to Forbes, including Hypergiant. According to Forbes, Colossal has "raised a total of $435 million."

Lamm and his wife recently had a baby, he told Rogan.

On the podcast, Lamm discusses the ethics of resurrecting extinct species, how the process is done, and the company's conservationist mission. He also described the company's efforts to bring back other species, such as the saber tooth tiger and woolly mammoth, and he explained how the company created a woolly mouse.

On his LinkedIn page, Lamm describes himself as, "Just a guy working to bring back mammoths (and other stuff)."

The page says he founded Colossal Biosciences in July 2021.

He also founded a company called Form Bio. "Form Bio empowers scientific discovery through an end-to-end platform and machine learning models to benefit synthetic biology innovation including bio-manufacturing of medicines, biomaterials, biofuels, recyclable plastics, and food alternatives," the page says.

Ben Lamm speaks on stage during the keynote 'Colossal: Technology Company Turning Science Fiction to Science Fact' session at 2025 SXSW Conference and Festival Austin Convention Center on March 09, 2025 in Austin, Texas.

He is a board member of the Explorers Club. Among other companies he founded or co-founded is a company called Worlds. "Worlds, the Spatial AI company headquartered in Dallas Texas, is completely re-inventing how organizations see and understand their physical worlds," his page says.

He has a degree in finance and accounting from Baylor University, the LinkedIn page says.
