Weird Wednesday: Geographically Challenged

When I saw this on one of the late night talk shows, I just knew I needed to dig deeper for Weird Wednesday.

For only $250 (US dollars of course) you can own this geographically accurate globe. But something doesn’t quite seem right…

Newfoundland is attached to Labrador. I guess the cartographers are taking the Newfoundland AND Labrador literally.Lake Superior is now Lakes SuperiorWell, okay, they got their little slice of Lake of the Woods correct. But if you follow the 49th parallel you’ll find it’s not so parallel, terminating at the 60th parallel.Baffin Island is attached to the mainland.

Sure, there are a few more errors but if I’m going to spend $337.50 Canadian, I want a quality globe:

There, that’s better. Wait? What? Okay the borders are accurate, but did we just get more great lakes? Nice…and the outflow from Lake Winnipeg has dramatically increased.

And the giant fighter jets are a nice touch.
