Tuesday Top Ten: Lies and Broken Promises
If you say you will do something (or not do something) and not say the words, “I promise”, does that give you carte blanche to change your mind with out any repercussions?
What about lies? There’s the lie when you know the truth but say something else and then there’s the lie that you believe
Trump said he would end the war between Russian and Ukraine within 24 hours. Now, I’m not and expert in foreign policy, but even I know that is not feasible.Bring down prices of groceries on Day 1. Now, I’m not and expert in economics, but even I know that is not fesible. He once said he was against the use of executive orders but:“In March 2016, with his hold on the GOP nomination nearly complete, Trump went so far as to declare, “I want to not use too many executive orders, folks. Executive orders sort of came about more recently. Nobody ever heard of an executive order. Then all of a sudden Obama, because he couldn’t get anybody to agree with him, he starts signing them like they’re butter. So I want to do away with executive orders for the most part.” (msnbc.com)
20 million illegal immigrants crossed the US/Mexico border in 2024, but accoding to US border security, since 2021 there were 7.5 million encounters nationwide. He said that pardons for the charged/convicted January 6th rioters would be on a case by case basis, but in the end, wanting to wield his power (or realizing how much work that would entail) said “F#@k it. Pardon them all.” and released even the people charged with assaulting police officers and damaging government property. The Ukrainians started the war three years ago.
Okay, that was only eight, but it’s getting depressing….
