Cherries from the garden

Look at this girl duet! No, better listen to how they sing! Do you also like it?
They are cherries from the garden: red, fresh, and beautiful. And the bell voices are clear.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me introduce you to an art project "… and the garden bloomed …" from Lviv (west of Ukraine). The names of the girls are: Marina Mazur and Yulia Oliyar. They are singing a shchedrivka "Hospodarsky Dvir", which means in Ukrainian “Farmyard”.

You don’t know what is “shchedrivka”(“щедрівкa”)? It is an ancient Ukrainian folk song(s) of good wishes. It is so old, that it has pagan roots when Ukrainians were not yet Christians. The name “shchedrivka” comes from east Slavik “shchedro” which means “generously”.

The girls determined the purpose of their project: to “research, study Ukrainian folk songs and popularize them on social networks” and the “goal is to preserve as many songs as possible”.

Duet "… and the garden bloomed …" has a YouTube channel @isadzatsviv where you can enjoy them singing many shchedrivkas.
