DID YOU KNOW THAT:
Annexation and occupation are two different things.
“Annexation” is when one country by force takes another country’s territory and integrates it into its state like Russia did with Crimea in February-March 2014 and later, with almost 20% of Ukraine since it launched SMO, the so-called Special Military Operation in February 2022.
And “Occupation” is when one country gains temporary control of the other country’s territory, without integrating it into its state. Like Ukraine did with Kursk Oblast - a region in western Russia, in August 2024. Ukraine is ready to exchange the occupied Kursk Oblast to some of the territories, which Russia annexed from Ukraine.
