A Magical Day at School! – “Lily and The Christmas Elf”
Today was a truly magical day! I had the honor of visiting my daughter’s class for their “Flannel Day” as part of their Holiday Spirit Week. I dressed up in my best flannel shirt and brought along our Christmas book, “Lily and The Christmas Elf.”
Before I started reading, there was a little surprise waiting for us! Chippy, the mischievous elf from the book, had somehow sneaked into my daughter’s backpack! He even left a special “magical Elf glove” with a note that read: “You can carry me around for just one day, anything more and the magic will go away!“
The class also has their own Elf on the Shelf named Elizabeth, and she was ready for some holiday fun too! Chippy and Elizabeth spent the morning exchanging ideas for pranks and mischief, much to the delight of the children.
My daughter, along with her three wonderful friends Darius, Sara, and Amar (who are also featured in the book!), read their parts to the class. Everyone laughed and had fun learning about Chippy’s hilarious antics at Lily and Nora’s house. They especially loved the part where Chippy turned the Christmas tree into a Santa face!
The children also loved seeing their teacher, Ms. Georgia, featured in the book.
To add to the fun, we had two “Elf-selfie” boards set up, and the children took turns posing with Chippy and Elizabeth. We also had a drawing contest and some fun holiday activity pages prepared for them. One of the activities was a secret message from Chippy about Santa. The children had to decode the words to find out what Chippy had written: “He knows if you’ve been bad or good!”
At the end of the reading, we gave away a copy of “Lily and The Christmas Elf“ to a sweet little girl whose drawing was so beautiful and Christmas-inspired.
It was truly a heartwarming experience to share my book with the children and see their imaginations ignite.
