“The balls are wrapped in a veil of my spiritual energy. It’s a ball that glimmers like gold…”
Remember how episode 5 of Dan Da Dan ended with Turbo Granny, now trapped in a cat form, revealing that she lost Okarun’s balls? Well, episode 6 begins with the ghostly evil granny revealing that they are wrapped in what look like golden spheres and could’ve been picked up by anybody.
Titled “A Dangerous Woman Arrives,” episode 6 starts off with Momo and Okarun’s quest to find the golden balls, but they are quickly distracted by a new potential rival. Pink-haired, pretty girl Aira Shiratori is convinced that Momo might be a demon and wants to get rid of her! But it isn’t just Aira that Momo may have to fight; there’s also another dangerous entity lurking somewhere…
Aira was introduced in the second half of Dan Da Dan episode 5, when she runs into Okarun at school and mildly flirts with him. Viewers get to learn a little more about her hilariously vain personality and how she thinks she is extra special because she is gorgeous. There’s overconfidence, and then there’s Aira’s delusional-level confidence. Just like Momo, Aira also has two close girlfriends, but she treats them more like lackeys than BFFs, making them run errands. Aira’s a bit like a cheerier, flirtier, and less cunning Japanese version of Regina George from Mean Girls.

Overall, this episode of Dan Da Dan is a ball of fun (pun intended), mixing romance, comedy, and demonic activity in generous doses. Up until now, our nerdy, loner otaku Okarun was simply overwhelmed to be friends with someone like Momo, but for the first time, he also sees her in a potentially romantic light—the keyword being ‘potentially’. So, things get funnily awkward between the two for a bit.
The last few minutes of “A Dangerous Woman Arrives” are tense yet comedic, with Momo and Okarun facing off against a completely unexpected threat. The showdown is accompanied by pulsating beats that amplify the drama, and the animation is vibrant and well-executed. Although the animators don’t switch up styles as much as in earlier episodes, they effectively play with color schemes to enhance the climactic cliffhanger for this chapter of Dan Da Dan. Turbo Granny in her cat form only adds to the hilarity.
You can stream ‘Dan Da Dan’ on Netflix and CrunchyRoll.
