Leonard Lake's Diary Part 2

Leonard Lake Diary 2
THE LAKE DIARIES 1983-1984
WEDNESDAY 12 JANUARY, 1983
Wired TV and telephone. Did laundry. Called Beverly and Toni to give them my new phone number. Spent most of the day book shopping with M. Told her about my unicorn skull and she didn’t believe me. One always hates to be doubted. Ah well. The whole household watched “Empire Strikes Back’ in my room from 8 to
10:30. Having a lot of trouble with my cat allergy. Taking Bronkaid constantly. Spent evening thereafter fantasizing about Thuy Tran.
THURSDAY 13 JANUARY, 1983
Cleaned room after the late night movie. Wrote Cricket and told her about the great TV rip-off. Wrote ex-landlord & Harry presenting them a bill for past services. Called Thuy Tran and gave her my new phone number, not that she’ll ever use it. Called Bev. She wants me to come over Saturday and install a window
for her. Cleaned garage a little. Then off to Safeway for some din-din. M came back down and talked / watched TV til 2200. She is a hard one to communicate with but THE LAKE DIARIES 1983-1984 at least she is trying. Possibly she’d like me as a boyfriend but if so even if she doesn’t realize it yet. And even if, with her
leaving at the end of her class, I can’t see where anything would come of it.
FRIDAY 14 JANUARY, 1983
Up early. Will attempt to reach Bev for lunch. No go but she talked me into fixing her window. Snooped around her apartment in the process. Beverly Lockhart, age 24, 64”, 105lbs, 34-23-24, brown to red hair, arguably pretty, smokes, mucho drugs. Professional admin type, part-time call girl. Ambitious, financially over-extended, no doubt a heavy user of men. Not really my type but potentially
available. Mixed and confused feelings towards her. Home at 1700, dinner, a dull night with the TV. No plans for the weekend at all. Perhaps something with M?
SATURDAY 15 JANUARY, 1983
Called Brian and gave him new phone number. Called Fern and she said Cricket wanted to talk with me. Called Cricket and talked at least an hour. Very foolish lady. Why do I love her so? Wish I could turn it off. Spent rest of day improving room (new ceiling tiles). Dinner with M and maybe 3 hours of conversation. She wants a boyfriend but doesn’t want it to be me. Sigh. Still believe we could help each others loneliness if she’d only give us the chance. Read and sleep.
SUNDAY 16 JANUARY, 1983
Called Cricket again and asked her out. She refused. Worked on room most of day. Door painted. Ceiling tiled.
TUESDAY 18 JANUARY, 1983
Rained most of the day. Did laundry. Cleaned refrigerator, little else. Dull day. Chatted with M most of evening. Such a waste.
WEDNESDAY 19 JANUARY, 1983 Off early to pick up a Guardian. Withdrew $100 from teller account, checked on PO Box but didn’t get one (too expensive). Called Phil and setup possible dope deal for tonight. Went to Fern’s and picked up a few minor items. Borrowed mom’s car for dope deal. No Sale. Hopefully it will lead to something in the future. Back at 2200.
THURSDAY 20 JANUARY, 1983
Went to 18th & Mission to check up on my contact there. Street whore named Angela. Gone, no ‘forwarding’. Going to have to set up something new. Went to Bay Guardian and placed an ad to appear next week. WM seeks companion etc. Let’s see what happens in a week.
FRIDAY 21 JANUARY, 1983
Stayed in bed til 1500. Nothing to do. Piddled around. Ho-hum. Have been dealing with housemate Jane on and off. A pretty lady, 19-20. Snooped into some of her personal papers. Typical, confused young lady. Pretty, but remote, detached. Off and on I’d like to molest her, but I can’t think of any reasonable way of doing
such. Chit-chat. Nothing day.
SATURDAY 22 JANUARY, 1983
More of the same. Been raining off and on. Did little more than eat, play Risk and go to bed. Read book. Tomorrow help mom move some furniture.
SUNDAY 23 JANUARY, 1983
Up early, over to mom’s to drive truck for her and help move furniture. Picked up Fern, Raoul & Carlos, when finished, lunch at mom’s and home. Patty gave me a beginning piano book. Did a little of that, dinner and then TV. Don got a letter from VA / SSI. Will deal with some. Reading.
MONDAY 24 JANUARY, 1983 Up and did laundry. Cleaned room and set up video camera. M managed to lock me out of my room and finally aware that I’m not interested in dealing with her. There is nothing to do or any place to go with someone who is afraid to grow. Contacted James B. Possible dope deal tomorrow.
Good. Can use the money. Some time this week I have to go to Lakeport and visit storage center / pick up mail. Still not an especially productive or exciting day.
TUESDAY 25 JANUARY, 1983
Lunch on 18th St. Found Angela working the street. Going back Thursday to give her my phone number. Rented car in evening. Delivered ¼ of buds to Buttler. Called Carol, she seems eager to see me but busy so made arrangements to call her back a week from Thursday.
WEDNESDAY 26 JANUARY, 1983
Off at 0600 to storage center. Picked up mail at G. Back in city, returned car, spent an evening playing Risk (won). TV. Called Buttler, setting up a roof job. $150 in it for me. Will call again tomorrow for estimate. Watched “The Shining” on video
tape. A lady named Lisa called about modelling, chatted, work out details later. Things I want to get: Assault rifle (AK-91 or M1A) $1000 New (better) video camera Signal Intensifier (for video setup) $200 Telepatch membership $120 Hybrid car $4000 9mm Colt Commander $400 Personal Computer AR-7 22 cal. Rifle $125.
THURSDAY 27 JANUARY, 1983
Another bed day. Up at 1300. Lunch on 18th St. Angela wasn’t there. Approached a black whore and made my sales pitch but she didn’t have the cash. Sigh. Over to Fern’s to pick up letter from Cricket, brought a war game home (Luftwaffe), dinner, and sold lid of shake ($60). TV. My ad came out in Guardian today, should
get results (if any) a week from tomorrow. Letter from J Arnold.
FRIDAY 28 JANUARY, 1983
Off to Goodman’s for estimate. Checked 18th. Still no Angela. Sigh. Home. Lit hot water tank (more sigh). Shower, good dinner, and off to Buttlers. Home and to bed. Lame day. (PUSSY!)
SATURDAY 29 JANUARY, 1983
Nothing day. Bike riding in the morning. Nap. Risk game. TV. One of Buttler’s tapes.
SUNDAY 30 JANUARY, 1983
Sold tool set. $150. Cleaned upper house, hot water tank refused to light. Bought $40 worth of groceries. Another $60 in from Trotter on another bag of shake. Cash situation looking good.
MONDAY 31 JANUARY, 1983
Went to mom’s picked up Fern’s mail. Deliver tomorrow. Helped Jane move out, gave notice to landlord to move out at the end of February. Watched Shogun, part I of V.
