Fetch (Flash Fiction Fridays #72)

Alicia picked up a stick. “Hey, Spot, do you want to play?”

The dragon perked up. “Sure!”

Smiling, Alicia drew her arm back and then threw the stick as far as she could. “Fetch!”

BOOM.

A bolt of flame struck the stick and obliterated it.

Spot wagged his tail happily. “I hit it!”

“…” Alicia blinked. “Um… Spot, you’re not supposed to do that.”

The dragon’s brows furrowed. “But you threw something into the air for target practice, right?”

“No.” Alicia picked up another stick. “Watch what Chomp does...
