The Secretary-General of the United Nations called on Saturday for an end to the “shocking violence” and “bloodshed” in Gaza and Lebanon, two days before the first anniversary of the attack launched by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Israeli soil.
“The war that followed the horrific attacks a year ago continues to destroy lives and cause profound human suffering to Palestinians in Gaza and, today, to the Lebanese people.”
The Israeli army, which claims to have eliminated more than 400 Hezbollah terrorists, continues its bombings targeting the movement’s sites in Beirut, “by systematically warning residents living near them.” Meanwhile, the Israeli army is preparing to evacuate all civilians in the northern Gaza Strip.
