State of the TAM - 17th July

What’s Up

The weather continues to be uninspiring! We had sun on the 12th for my birthday - and the rest - but it’s been hit or miss since. Not much rain though, so we’ll take what we can get!

Fingers crossed for a bit of sunshine for the rest of July!

Meanwhile, if you want to get your hands on the Night Shift Box Set while it’s on sale … today is the last day!

And we continue my showcase of authors I’ll be at Cons at next year with Kerry Kilpatrick! I’m chuffed to be attending ShiMMer with Kerry next June (Get your tickets now!) and look forward to checking out Will, the first book in her Almstead Island series!

Will: An MM Daddy Romance (Almstead Island: Newcomer's Club Book 1) by Kerry Kilpatrick

What could go right with a social worker Daddy and an injured boy?

Will
As a social worker on Almstead Island, I've come to understand the hidden battles people face. But seeing Beckett injured shook me. Behind his tough exterior, a vulnerability tugs at my heartstrings. I want to be his daddy, not just to fulfill a fantasy, but to provide the comfort and security he so desperately needs.

Beckett
The injury didn't just hurt my body; it exposed the emotional bruises my family has inflicted on me since childhood. Their constant criticisms and jokes have worn me down even more than my job as a cop in our small town. Will’s kindness and understanding offer a reprieve from the suffocating weight of their judgment. I want to be his boy for longer than a fling.

Beckett needs to drop his guard and Will needs to find the line between nurturing and smothering. Both of these men want what the other is offering, but they’ll have to get out of their own way to make it happen.

This is Book One of the Almstead Island: Newcomer's Club. The series is interconnecting, but each story can be read as a standalone. This novel involves a Daddy/boy dynamic, but no age play. Please know that there are instances of emotional abuse in this story. You can find more information in the forward matter. There is a HEA for this couple and no cliffhanger, but some character redemptions will take longer than others.

Now obviously I’ve a professional interest in the committing of crimes. However, while I’ve known a few criminals over the years none of them were CLASSY CRIMINALS. My old boss, on the other hand, knew (for a value of ‘knew’ that included him also knowing he’d been cursed by Templars) some actual proper jewel thieves. They weren’t wild classy though.

So, the story as he told it went like this. These four guys would travel to a foreign country, in this case it was Switzerland, and find a high class jewellers. One of them would go inside and ask to look for some rings and then they’d just grab the tray and run like fuck. The rest of the thieves, who were else dressed the same, would then scatter to confuse pursuit.

Then they’d just split the take between them, get on the plane home, and flog them there. Sometimes they’d take their girlfriends and then they’d wear the rings/necklaces/earrings home on the plane.

Like I said, it might be true. He was a man who had done many things and remembered some of them. That said, he also told a story about the time he was at a party and a man brought a paper bird to life and it escaped through a window.

But it’s a good story! Remind me to tell you the one about the drug dealers some time!

The Daring Jewel Thief Who Preyed on Dallas High Society

The crime that triggered all the excitement happened on a bone-cold night in 1959. A “blue norther” had blown across the barren stretches of Texas into Dallas. Rich women in Dallas turtled down into their mink coats and said “Brrrrr!” to their husbands as they hurried out to cocktail parties.

ew realized it at that moment, but they were living in auspicious times. The country was entering a new era that year—and so was Dallas.

OK, so theoretically this seems like a good idea. I just know I’d be so daunted by actually filling it in I’d just have, like, a couple of post-its and my car registration in there.
