like all lemurs, ring tailed lemurs have two tongues!

the second tongue is a lot smaller and is generally hidden under the first tongue, though that main tongue itself is pretty standard issue as far as mammals go.

tongue number two isn't used for eating though, it's used for grooming! specifically, for grooming other lemurs.

yeah. lemurs just have an entire extra mouth appendage to say "I love you, but wash your dang hair".
