Simply Me

Simply Me

By: Azza El Wakeel

The lonely woman

Is simply me

The child who is hiding

And keeps writing

About her doubts

Laughs and tears

Is the other she in me

The dreamy girl

Is also me

But most of all

I am the fearful adolescent

Who doesn’t want to grow

Doesn’t want to know

Doesn’t want to let go of you

Don’t let go of me

Don’t end my dream

Nor tell me that

Our romance isn’t true

Our story started

When I was a girl

And you were a boy

Your love is my only joy

My only toy

I invite you to watch the video poetry of the poem

Simply Me

This is an excerpt of the poem published in my poetry book

The Distance
