What does “Auld Lang Syne” mean? In Scots, Auld Lang Syne means “for the sake of old times” or “time gone by”. It is a song of friends meeting and raising a drink as they reminisce over old times. It has been sung as a parting song where they cross their arms and hold hands as they sing.
