Teaching Philosophy - A Real World Success Speaker
A teaching philosophy is something educators know of themselves intuitively, but sometimes struggle to articulate in print or verbally. Nevertheless a teaching philosophy and methodology can quickly be observed and felt emotionally in the way an educator conducts a classroom and interacts with her students.
As an educator and real world success speaker my teaching philosophy is multidisciplinary incorporating background experiential learning both of the professor and students, present academic scholarly literature and opposing views on critical issues within each subject matter.
I use published scholarly texts and literature on the subjects I teach as a foundation from which to further explore and discuss pressing issues of importance in the context within which we as a society current live. Thus my teaching style intersects both the scholarly and reality.
By facilitating meaningful classroom discussions prompted by assigned readings, I engage students in meaningful interaction, dialogue, debate and examination of critical challenges within the field and subject matter being studied.
Recognizing both mental and emotional intelligence, I encourage written and verbal communication between students, fully utilizing online forums and personal time together in class to facilitate meaningful interaction of students from various backgrounds and ideological leanings. I celebrate, embrace and encourage diversity – especially academic to enlarge our perspectives concerning the way we see, understand, construct and deconstruct subjects and academic disciplines.
Beyond instructing students in the basic fundamentals of any academic course, I also endeavor to encourage lifelong learning and ongoing problem solving. This provokes and prompts students to ask questions both in class and throughout their lives, while searching for answers. In so doing, I empower my students to become free and creative thinkers who can transcend struggles in industry and society to turn difficulties and adversities into fruitful opportunities.
I teach and impart academic, contextual and real world knowledge to provide a holistic and integrative approach to education that empowers students to think creatively and act proactively to be leaders with influence in society.
