Beginnings

As a therapist, I encourage my clients to set goals, and to actually pursue them. When it came to writing my first novel, LIGHT of the MAGOS, I decided to take my own advice.

Writing a book is something that I have wanted to do since college, but I always told myself, “you won’t succeed” or “I don’t even know how I would publish it.” I was my own worst enemy. This is something with which most people struggle. People are hardest on themselves, typically setting unrealistically high standards. They don’t allow themselves to make mistakes, and judge themselves the harshest. This is not a good way to go about life. In fact, it can keep a person from pursuing the that things they want. Most of all, doing these things to yourself will make and keep you unhappy.

People need to learn how to be kind to themselves. They should allow, and be okay with, making mistakes. I also want to encourage everyone to pursue that one thing. Do not hold yourself back. And know that pursuing a goal is done in steps and is not accomplished overnight.

Like I said above, I decided to take my own advice. This is something I have always wanted to do, so what would it hurt? First, I decided it would be fiction, fantasy, and involve magic. Next, I thought of a very basic storyline. I spent the next few weeks writing down ideas. They were coming very fast. Then, I started putting together the outline and story. A passion was for writing was awakened.

Thanks for reading. I will update from time to time.
