Onward and Upward

Cinco de Mayo, I celebrated by finishing the first draft of my book on Bangladesh, MINGLING WITH MUSLIMS. Yay! Now, I'll take a break from the manuscript by writing a short piece or two. First up, with a deadline the end of June (whoa! that's soon!) an item for CHICKEN SOUP, Inspiration for Writers. I submitted to Chicken Soup in the long ago past (like two years ago) and never got accepted, but a few months ago, I finally broke the curse and have an article now in final review. So I'm encouraged to write more. They have a string of books currently accepting submissions. Go see!

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying living in my condo in Waikiki, Hawaii, getting acquainted with some of the other residents in my building. We have some interesting people here! Because I live alone, I thought that would be prudent. It takes me out of my comfort zone to knock on strangers' doors and invite them over, but sometimes you just gotta do what's uncomfortable, right?

My book on my adventures in Thailand, in the process of being published by Tate, will likely have a title change. We're exploring options. It'll be out next fall.
