Book Review: The Epsilon Account, Book One of the Golden Harvest by Joni Parker

Published in 2023. Science Fantasy. Lady Alexin (Alex) Dumwalt has her comfortable life in Paris upended when her emergency notification system is activated. The Elves want her home NOW. When she arrives, she assesses the situation, but doesn’t see what the problem is until the Mentors arrive two hundred years early to begin the Golden Harvest. Every four thousand years, the Elves pay tribute to their Mentors, who brought them to Eledon after they were forced to leave Earth. As the Elves prepare to pay, Alex conducts a deep dive into this scheme and uncovers a dastardly plot by the Star Elves, a rival clan from the Constellations, to steal the Elfin gold to further their technological advancement. Her investigation puts her life in danger not only in Eledon, but also on her journey to the stars.

Alex is way out of her comfort zone as she tangles with the Star Elves in this adventure. She does have some exposure to technology as she has been living in the mortal world, but it’s minimal. She works as a fashion model and knows how to use a mobile phone and a laptop computer. But she has also pursued one of her passions—flying. She’s taken enough flying lessons to qualify for a private pilot’s license, which included months of training, not only on her skill in an aircraft but the technology to fly it. But will that be enough for her to get back home? More importantly, alive?
