Hi, my name's Rowena and I'm a writer of YA novels. You may have seen some of my posts for my new YA fantasy novel - The Grumleys of Castle Grimwold. It's a Harry Potter-esque fantasy for readers from 12 - 15 with a haunted castle and ghosts and evil wizards. You get the idea. You can buy it on Amazon if you are keen!
The Grumleys of Castle GrimwoldI've been writing for about 20 years now and while I do write other things - screenplays mostly - YA is my first love and I think it's because reading was such a big part of my life when I was growing up. In fact, I would say that pretty much 90 percent of what I know about people and the world I learnt from books. And yes - I mean fiction. A good book is like a time machine crossed with a magic carpet - it can take you anywhere, any time and show you the most amazing things and people.
So if you feel your world is small - or maybe its so mad you want to escape - there's always a book waiting to whisk you away.
Do you have a book that changed your life? Or that was the first book that made you fall in love with reading? Would love to hear about it.
