I can't believe summer is over! Although I am excited for fall and all things Halloween and pumpkin spice (yes, I'm one of THOSE) I've always been a summer baby. Though with the higher temperatures and constant wildfires and smoke, summer hasn't been as magical as it used to be.

Life news:

The fires are finally out, which means I get to do the brakes on my car. Today I'm going to do the rear brakes, which is a little daunting because I haven't worked on drum brakes in over a decade. But I got all new parts and the old ones on my Honda probably won't be as rusted in as those on my poor Datsun.

Operation purple house is being delayed because we need to replace the roof over the music room and the one over the garage. It's an expensive bummer.

In fun news, my son's birthday is on Monday, but we're celebrating a day early so we can take him to our favorite smokehouse and BBQ place for brisket.

I told him that I'd paint him a back patch for his heavy metal battle vest he's started. Because he likes puns and classical music, he asked for a Bach patch. Here it is!
