I Reign In Hell - a collection

Visitors to the Centipede Press website, casting an eye over the 'Coming Soon!' section, might notice that there now appears there, in as yet unclickable thumbnail, a certain title by a certain author:

https://www.centipedepress.com/home.html

I will post more extensive information here at a later date.

E.S. Novel or collection?

It is from the brilliant Harry Brockway.

Apparently I can't post links in the comments. If I could, I'd link to his site.

A collection. A sort of retrospective but with some previously unpublished stuff.

Thank you.
You have written many different things, but there is a skein of supernatural horror/weird fiction in your work. Given the title, is the collection's focus somewhat in that direction? If not, is there something of a thematic focus otherwise to this collection?

I think, by happenstance, that does predominate in the collection, though looking back I don't think there was a plan to that effect. There are some other, non-'weird' pieces, too. The idea, I think, has been something like a cross between a 'best of' and a representative selection of shorter works, though, because of time issues, only going up to a certain date. I shall post a table of contents at some point. I'm just a little cautious of leaping ahead of the publisher's publicity, but hope to post more information soon.

Sirensongs This is very exciting news Quentin, congratulations! I especially look forward to reading all the non-published pieces. If you tell me that there may be one or two pieces from THE NIGHTMARE EXHIBITION which I still have not been able to get ahold of after all these years, I will be over the moon!

Thank you! Thanks for posting.

What can I say? There may be. I will say no more for now.

Fergus Nm Very exciting news. I hope there's some pieces from "All God's Angels, Beware!" included - I'm forever kicking myself for not grabbing a copy of that before Chômu Press closed.

Hello Fergus. I hope that "All God's Angels, Beware!" won't be out of print for too long, though at the moment there don't seem to be any interested publishers. In the meantime ... Well, it probably won't be too long before I post the table of contents for I Reign in Hell.

James Zalitis Congratulations Quentin
I love your work
You're a very unique writer
May I ask if u have the table of contents yet?
I ask because I already have a nice Tartarus hardcover of Morbid Tales, so I'm unsure if I should place a preorder for I Reign in Hell
Thankyou
James

Hello James.

Thanks for writing and for investing in a copy of Morbid Tales.

There is a table of contents, but as I haven't yet seen a printed copy of the work, I hope you don't mind if I don't give out full details here. I tend to be a bit superstitious and nervous about giving out information until I'm sure what the book will look like myself.

But I can say that in the table of contents as I know it, which I am not expecting to change, there are only two stories from Morbid Tales. There are overall 13 pieces in the book, including one essay.

I'll be posting more here as soon as the book has its own page at the Centipede Press website.

Best,

QSC.

I look forward to reading it🙂

Squire I ordered IRiH today. Very excited about it. I read your novella Shrike back in 2009. It was the only novella that PS Publishing sent me that I bothered keeping. It is due for a reread very soon.

Hello, Squire!

Thank you for the support. I hope you'll find IRiH (that is how I habitually write the title, too, by the way) at least up to the standard of Shrike.

Squire Received IRiH yesterday. No bells and whistles, but a gorgeous edition (like expect anthing less from Centipede). Looking forward to diving into it.

The introduction to Shrike by Lisa Tuttle (who I know only as a byline with George RR Martin on Windhaven in 1982) mentioned a story about a magic prawn. Has that been published?

Ah, an interesting question. No, it hasn't. It's a children's story, actually, or at least that was my idea when I wrote it. Funnily enough, I've been wondering whether I should blow the dust off it and see if anything can be done with it. When I get some time, I shall.

I hope you have a pleasant swim. Watch out for things with tentacles and teeth.
